Hey guys! It's been a while since my last update, because I've been a combination of both lazy and busy. I've been playing the portable Kingdom Hearts games, went on a cruise to the Bahamas, and other things. Luckily, I have not returned empty-handed, so behold my massive update of sprites and mock-ups!
As the years go on by, I keep improving and improving, continuing to sprite whatever latest thing I want to do. And now, as January comes to a close, I feel like pumping one more Kingdom Hearts-related thing, to round out all the improved stuff I've done.
In late 2015, I made a custom sprite sheet for Kingdom Hearts 3D's HUD. It was decent, but now it's not really up to par with the other two KH HUDs I've made last week or so. So it needs a well-deserved upgrade - and it didn't even take me that long, either!
It's been over three and a half years since I first began spriting, close to two years since my DeviantART account began existing, and over a year since my Weebly came into existence. And in that time, I've made many wonderful sprites, but none have been as prominent as my Kingdom Hearts III HUD sheet.
Oh hey, it's 2017 now! Sorry I've been away for two straight months, but I really wasn't in the spriting mood - there was a lot of distractions in my life. Grades, Star Rush, Pokemon Sun... It's been a bit of a wild ride. But it's the new year now, so why not start things off with a bang? Or rather, a redo?
It's been a while since my last blog post (FOUR MONTHS!), though that could be due to my laziness with getting things done. (I still have a Kirby Triple Deluxe HUD and a Paper Jam Main Menu to finish! And when I said I'd do the latter over the summer, too!) But hey, I'm back now, and I'm here with something pretty awesome.
Merry Christmas to everyone! The Christmas season has concluded here and I hope everyone has gotten a great variety of presents? So what have I done for Christmas? Well...
Oh my god, it feels like one thousand forevers since I started (re-)working on this thing - probably because all of the badges have such intricate designs that I have to do twice - a big version and a small version for each of the twelve.
There are astronomical improvements from last year's entry, and my god does it look way more glorious.
The ripped text block and badge gauge is back (because if you have that, then why bother even making it yourself?), and now there are badge menu stuff. The text block, the A button, the ! icon that appears on new badges, etc. The roulettes, L and R buttons have been resized dramatically to fit the screen, too.
The small badges have been included and are a heck of a lot bigger than the old ones (look how tiny they are!). They're more detailed and look far more accurate and just plain better. They're, in my personal opinion, one of my grand achievements in spriting.
Same with the big badges - they're about double the size, double the detail, and were double the pain to get finished - once, my computer freaking crashed in the middle of making the Expert Badge and I had to redo it (although admittedly it looks better now than it did before.) Still a jerk lesson though - press the save button as much as you freaking can.
It's pretty dang cool to see the dramatic improvements I've made since last year, and I'll be very proud to see this used.
Next Time... M&LDT Miscellaneous Stuff
The third of my great big sprite remaking trip - my Dream Team In-Battle Touch Screen! It was one of my first custom sprite sheets I ever made, and heck it's going to be fun to see what improvements I've made since then.
The old one used a ripped block sprites, an ugly badge effect place, great badge effect buttons, and okay badge/challenge icons. It was okay, but didn't quite resemble Dream Team s much as it should've. I guess that's why I called it BIS-Styled.
The new one however? It has an actual background, a DT text block, DT badge gauge, more accurate buttons, background stars, and even an Expert Challenge list! It's definitely the definite version, and it's so much more better. There aren't very many buttons, but that will be rectified later.
Yeah, you should use this. Definitely! I'm really proud of this now and you should be proud to use it too.
Next Time... More M&L Dream Team Sprites
Part two of my grand sprite overhaul is in - focusing in on my Sonic 2006 HUD.
The new HUD has more shadows, transparency, and more gradients to better recreate the original Sonic '06 HUD. The Alternate HUD has been removed for being useless and also because the old sheet is also still up for use (in case no one has GIMP or any paint tool that supports transparency).
It looks a lot more impressive now - though I am a bit saddened how this is like the second Sonic '06 HUD sprite sheet out there in existence. Oh well, that's what I'm here for - making sprites no one else wants to.
Next Time... M&L Dream Team's In-Battle Bottom Screen (hopefully)
I'm FieryExplosion - a casual gamer and avid spriter. I've been spriting since 2013, and have plenty of sheets. I enjoy fanfiction, reading books, and drawing.
