Merry Christmas to everyone! The Christmas season has concluded here and I hope everyone has gotten a great variety of presents? So what have I done for Christmas? Well...

The first semester is coming to a close, and afterwards it's gonna be two sweet weeks without a school day in sight! It's going to be one heck of a spriting period, and I'm excited for the day it finally arrives. Unfortunately that day is tomorrow, and we all know how tiring waiting can be.
School's been fine, no real troubles at all aside from some quite annoying essays I had to write. The progress I've made on my M&LDT Main Menu isn't very substantial. I've been busy doing other things, and I've never really had lots of time to do it yet - but I promise I'll get them up, eventually! In the meantime, here's what I have available. While I was working on my M&LDT Main Menu (which is a pain in the butt to do, but I'll get it done eventually), I decided to take a small detour and do the M&LDT's data select, which I assumed would be a quick job (which it so was not). The fruits of my labor are now here - showcasing accuracy, DS-size scaling, and gradients.
Worth it, but I do wish my computer didn't crash right after I finished the data block... and I didn't save right after doing so. And let me just tell you - redoing work sucks. Always. My WIP page for my M&LDT Main Menu. Use if you want, but be warned that it is extremely unfinished. Like, probably 20% done, at the most.
Just let it be known here and now that doing that dang M&L polka dot pattern really sucks. Oh my god, it feels like one thousand forevers since I started (re-)working on this thing - probably because all of the badges have such intricate designs that I have to do twice - a big version and a small version for each of the twelve.
There are astronomical improvements from last year's entry, and my god does it look way more glorious.
The ripped text block and badge gauge is back (because if you have that, then why bother even making it yourself?), and now there are badge menu stuff. The text block, the A button, the ! icon that appears on new badges, etc. The roulettes, L and R buttons have been resized dramatically to fit the screen, too. The small badges have been included and are a heck of a lot bigger than the old ones (look how tiny they are!). They're more detailed and look far more accurate and just plain better. They're, in my personal opinion, one of my grand achievements in spriting. Same with the big badges - they're about double the size, double the detail, and were double the pain to get finished - once, my computer freaking crashed in the middle of making the Expert Badge and I had to redo it (although admittedly it looks better now than it did before.) Still a jerk lesson though - press the save button as much as you freaking can. It's pretty dang cool to see the dramatic improvements I've made since last year, and I'll be very proud to see this used. Next Time... M&LDT Miscellaneous Stuff The third of my great big sprite remaking trip - my Dream Team In-Battle Touch Screen! It was one of my first custom sprite sheets I ever made, and heck it's going to be fun to see what improvements I've made since then.
The old one used a ripped block sprites, an ugly badge effect place, great badge effect buttons, and okay badge/challenge icons. It was okay, but didn't quite resemble Dream Team s much as it should've. I guess that's why I called it BIS-Styled.
The new one however? It has an actual background, a DT text block, DT badge gauge, more accurate buttons, background stars, and even an Expert Challenge list! It's definitely the definite version, and it's so much more better. There aren't very many buttons, but that will be rectified later. Yeah, you should use this. Definitely! I'm really proud of this now and you should be proud to use it too. Next Time... More M&L Dream Team Sprites Part two of my grand sprite overhaul is in - focusing in on my Sonic 2006 HUD.
The new HUD has more shadows, transparency, and more gradients to better recreate the original Sonic '06 HUD. The Alternate HUD has been removed for being useless and also because the old sheet is also still up for use (in case no one has GIMP or any paint tool that supports transparency).
It looks a lot more impressive now - though I am a bit saddened how this is like the second Sonic '06 HUD sprite sheet out there in existence. Oh well, that's what I'm here for - making sprites no one else wants to. Next Time... M&L Dream Team's In-Battle Bottom Screen (hopefully) .So I took a look back at some old sprites of mine from over a year ago at the very least and compared to my most recent sprites, they look very ugly and just not up to par. My old Dream Team custom sprites, Sonic Unleashed PS3/360 HUD, and Sonic Generations custom ranks are quite the example. So I'm going to do a project to give them (and possibly several others) a complete design overhaul to make them look much better (and not totally embarrassing). This is the first one - my revamp of my Unleashed HUD.
The old HUD was created February 17, 2015. It's old, cluttered, and had way too many colors crammed into the HUD. The life icons didn't exactly look that good either, and I consider it very, very subpar.
In the new HUD, I simplified the colors on the HUD and shrunk it heavily, used gradients instead of color blocks, and even added a Ring Energy gauge! The boss gauge stays the same because I'm kind of lazy right now. This concludes part 1 of my grand sprite revamp - there's plenty more to go, so we might be here a while. Not like that's bad or anything, though! Next Time... Sonic 2006 Custom HUD Hello, and welcome to my humble site. I'm FieryExplosion, a casual gamer and avid spriter! You'll find updates on what's going on, what I'm doing, and the sprites that I've done! I'll have Mario sprites, Sonic sprites, KH sprites, and several more!
Currently this site is a work-in-progress, but I will have plenty of stuff to showcase once I get the time to. So keep a steady lookout until that time! ...not that many people will find this place, but still... EDIT: Uploaded a ton of my sheets and mock-ups! Now this place is looking full! |
