Those of you who have taken a look at my sprite sheets may noticed the three key franchises I focus on spriting -- Mario, Sonic, and Kingdom Hearts. Unfortunately, the majority of my Sonic HUDs were of a certainly low standard of quality.
By the time this month ends, I want to redo the remaining five Sonic HUDs I've made games for -- Sonic Unleashed (Wii), Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic 2006, and Sonic Colors. Today's update will show you the first two.

So, I took a look back at my old Sonic Unleashed PS3/360 HUD. While certainly an improvement over the original version all the way back in February 2015, it was a little too simplistic, and the Werehog and Tornado Defense HUDs were too complex for their own good. So I thought now was a good enough time to give it another revamp.
Hey guys! It's been a while since my last update, because I've been a combination of both lazy and busy. I've been playing the portable Kingdom Hearts games, went on a cruise to the Bahamas, and other things. Luckily, I have not returned empty-handed, so behold my massive update of sprites and mock-ups!
As the years go on by, I keep improving and improving, continuing to sprite whatever latest thing I want to do. And now, as January comes to a close, I feel like pumping one more Kingdom Hearts-related thing, to round out all the improved stuff I've done.
In late 2015, I made a custom sprite sheet for Kingdom Hearts 3D's HUD. It was decent, but now it's not really up to par with the other two KH HUDs I've made last week or so. So it needs a well-deserved upgrade - and it didn't even take me that long, either!
It's been over three and a half years since I first began spriting, close to two years since my DeviantART account began existing, and over a year since my Weebly came into existence. And in that time, I've made many wonderful sprites, but none have been as prominent as my Kingdom Hearts III HUD sheet.
Oh hey, it's 2017 now! Sorry I've been away for two straight months, but I really wasn't in the spriting mood - there was a lot of distractions in my life. Grades, Star Rush, Pokemon Sun... It's been a bit of a wild ride. But it's the new year now, so why not start things off with a bang? Or rather, a redo?
It's been a while since my last blog post (FOUR MONTHS!), though that could be due to my laziness with getting things done. (I still have a Kirby Triple Deluxe HUD and a Paper Jam Main Menu to finish! And when I said I'd do the latter over the summer, too!) But hey, I'm back now, and I'm here with something pretty awesome.
Merry Christmas to everyone! The Christmas season has concluded here and I hope everyone has gotten a great variety of presents? So what have I done for Christmas? Well...
Oh my god, it feels like one thousand forevers since I started (re-)working on this thing - probably because all of the badges have such intricate designs that I have to do twice - a big version and a small version for each of the twelve.
There are astronomical improvements from last year's entry, and my god does it look way more glorious.
The ripped text block and badge gauge is back (because if you have that, then why bother even making it yourself?), and now there are badge menu stuff. The text block, the A button, the ! icon that appears on new badges, etc. The roulettes, L and R buttons have been resized dramatically to fit the screen, too. The small badges have been included and are a heck of a lot bigger than the old ones (look how tiny they are!). They're more detailed and look far more accurate and just plain better. They're, in my personal opinion, one of my grand achievements in spriting. Same with the big badges - they're about double the size, double the detail, and were double the pain to get finished - once, my computer freaking crashed in the middle of making the Expert Badge and I had to redo it (although admittedly it looks better now than it did before.) Still a jerk lesson though - press the save button as much as you freaking can. It's pretty dang cool to see the dramatic improvements I've made since last year, and I'll be very proud to see this used. Next Time... M&LDT Miscellaneous Stuff |
