Those of you who have taken a look at my sprite sheets may noticed the three key franchises I focus on spriting -- Mario, Sonic, and Kingdom Hearts. Unfortunately, the majority of my Sonic HUDs were of a certainly low standard of quality.
By the time this month ends, I want to redo the remaining five Sonic HUDs I've made games for -- Sonic Unleashed (Wii), Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic 2006, and Sonic Colors. Today's update will show you the first two.

So, I took a look back at my old Sonic Unleashed PS3/360 HUD. While certainly an improvement over the original version all the way back in February 2015, it was a little too simplistic, and the Werehog and Tornado Defense HUDs were too complex for their own good. So I thought now was a good enough time to give it another revamp.
Hey guys! It's been a while since my last update, because I've been a combination of both lazy and busy. I've been playing the portable Kingdom Hearts games, went on a cruise to the Bahamas, and other things. Luckily, I have not returned empty-handed, so behold my massive update of sprites and mock-ups!
Part two of my grand sprite overhaul is in - focusing in on my Sonic 2006 HUD.
The new HUD has more shadows, transparency, and more gradients to better recreate the original Sonic '06 HUD. The Alternate HUD has been removed for being useless and also because the old sheet is also still up for use (in case no one has GIMP or any paint tool that supports transparency).
It looks a lot more impressive now - though I am a bit saddened how this is like the second Sonic '06 HUD sprite sheet out there in existence. Oh well, that's what I'm here for - making sprites no one else wants to. Next Time... M&L Dream Team's In-Battle Bottom Screen (hopefully) .So I took a look back at some old sprites of mine from over a year ago at the very least and compared to my most recent sprites, they look very ugly and just not up to par. My old Dream Team custom sprites, Sonic Unleashed PS3/360 HUD, and Sonic Generations custom ranks are quite the example. So I'm going to do a project to give them (and possibly several others) a complete design overhaul to make them look much better (and not totally embarrassing). This is the first one - my revamp of my Unleashed HUD.
The old HUD was created February 17, 2015. It's old, cluttered, and had way too many colors crammed into the HUD. The life icons didn't exactly look that good either, and I consider it very, very subpar.
In the new HUD, I simplified the colors on the HUD and shrunk it heavily, used gradients instead of color blocks, and even added a Ring Energy gauge! The boss gauge stays the same because I'm kind of lazy right now. This concludes part 1 of my grand sprite revamp - there's plenty more to go, so we might be here a while. Not like that's bad or anything, though! Next Time... Sonic 2006 Custom HUD |
